An afternoon at the skate park

I had some time to kill this afternoon. Two stories I made calls on this morning had dead-ended by noon. I was still waiting to hear back on the third one.

So, I headed over to the Portland Skate Park with my cameras in tow. It’s a can’t-miss location on a sunny summer day. It’s never failed to give me great things to shoot and today was no exception.

These guys are good, the vibe is friendly and the city keeps the place clean. I’m sure I’d break my collar bone and both wrists if I ever tried to do what these cats were pulling off all over the place.

One of the guys I talked to, Mike Lynch, said he and his brother would be organizing a competition at the park sometime in August. I think this Facebook group is the place to find out more.

I left the park with a card-load of photos and a slight sunburn on my ears. But that was a small price to pay to get to watch these guys skate for a couple hours.
